Molzym has developed new technologies for nucleic acid-based diagnostics of microbial pathogens in complex specimen. The main features of the products address the need for improved quantitative and qualitative issues in molecular detection of bacterial and fungal pathogens.

MolYsis comprises a pre-analytical tool for the molecular analysis of bacteraemia and infections of other complex systems. MolYsis is a new system for the targeted isolation of bacterial DNA by selective lysis of associated cells of higher organisms like blood cells and the degradation of non-target human DNA. By this pre-analytical treatment increased sensitivity and specificity in PCR and Real-Time PCR assays are obtained.

With our highly purified Taq DNA polymerase products, MolTaq 16S and Mastermix 16S, a series of tools is offered to cover a variety of research issues. Sensitive detection assays rely on the absence of contaminating DNA in the reagents otherwise giving rise to false signals. Molzym’s purification technology removes traces of DNA from the reagents resulting in an extreme enhancement of the sensitivity of detection and elimination of false positive results.

Applications: molecular diagnostics of sepsis, oral microbiology, microbial community analysis (bacteria-plants, bacteria-animals), meta-genomics.
